TOYOKAWA―May 1, 2019―OSG Corporation today announces one the company’s latest initiatives – OSG 4.0 – for smart and optimal manufacturing. Construction of a new smart factory, OSG Product Data Management (OPDM) system, automation programing and monitoring are some of the key focuses of the Project OSG 4.0. By 2024, OSG will strive to achieve 72-hour unmanned manufacturing at a 60 percent or above ratio; machine continuous utilization rate of 85 percent or above; and a 10 percent overall cost reduction rate.
Construction of the NEO Shinshiro Factory for smart manufacturing is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed by spring 2020. The new 16,300-square-meterfacility will be situated adjacent to the existing 32,200-square-meter Shinshiro Factory in Shinshiro City of Aichi Prefecture. The revamped NEO Shinshiro Factory will have a total production space of 48,500-square-meter. In addition to the existing HSS drill and end mill production, the NEO Shinshiro Factory will be equipped with capabilities to manufacture carbide drills, carbide taps, as well as coating services utilizing some of the latest available technologies for efficient and highly versatile manufacturing.
