NIEDERSTETTEN, Germany, Aug. 3, 2026 — Tool manufacturer BASS has received a Silver Award at the German Excellence Awards, one of Germany’s most prestigious recognitions for organizational excellence. Presented by the Initiative Ludwig Erhard Prize (ILEP), the award was conferred June 26, 2026, at the Meistersaal in Berlin during the organization’s 30th anniversary ceremony.

BASS was one of only 12 organizations nationwide to be recognized in the small and medium-sized enterprise category. Rather than evaluating revenue or individual products, the award assesses overall business performance, including strategy, employee engagement, processes, corporate culture and innovation.
“This award reflects the dedication and daily efforts of all our employees,” said Managing Director Martin Zeller. Notably, BASS earned the Silver Award in its first year participating in the competition.
Founded in 1947, BASS manufactures precision threading tools for industrial customers around the world. The jury cited the company’s deeply embedded corporate values, strong organizational culture and commitment to exploring new markets and innovation opportunities. Assessors also highlighted the lasting connections former employees maintain with the company, reflecting a workplace culture built on appreciation and teamwork.
Like many midsize manufacturers, BASS faces challenges including digital transformation, skilled labor shortages and increasing global competition. Looking ahead, Zeller has set his sights on the next milestone.
“Our goal is gold,” he said. “Excellence is not a one-time achievement. It is the result of continuous improvement and the collective efforts of our team. Our motivation goes beyond winning awards. We want to strengthen customer enthusiasm and ensure our long-term competitiveness.”
With this recognition, BASS joins a distinguished group of German organizations honored through the Ludwig Erhard Prize program. Other 2026 recipients included BMW Group’s Leipzig plant (Gold), agricultural machinery manufacturer Fendt (Bronze) and automotive supplier Schaeffler (Bronze).
