TOYOKAWA, AICHI, JAPAN―July 23, 2025―OSG Corporation today announced the expansion of its A-XPF highly efficient, multi-purpose forming tap series with the launch of two new long shank models: the A-LT-XPF and the A-LT-DH-XPF, the latter specifically engineered for deep hole threading applications.

Unlike conventional cutting taps, the A-XPF series forms threads through plastic deformation, eliminating chip generation and significantly reducing tool change time and machine downtime caused by chip-related issues. The A-XPF features a special chamfer design for low thrust force and a reinforced thread configuration that enhances cutting edge rigidity, minimizing the risk of chipping. Manufactured from powder metallurgy high-speed steel (CPM) for superior wear resistance and coated with OSG’s advanced VI coating, the A-XPF series delivers extended tool life and high productivity across a wide range of materials—including carbon steel, alloy steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminum, zinc, and more.
The newly added A-LT-XPF and A-LT-DH-XPF long shank forming taps are optimized for small-diameter threads and extended thread lengths, offering high thread accuracy even in challenging deep hole conditions. The A-LT-XPF is offered in sizes M3 to M12, while the A-LT-DH-XPF covers sizes M2 to M6. These additions further enhance the versatility and performance of the A-XPF series, making it an ideal solution for high-efficiency tapping in complex applications.
