ADO coolant-through carbide drill series demonstrates superior results in deep-hole drilling applications in the German automotive and die and mold sector

OSG’s ADO is a high performance and versatile coolant-through carbide drill series available in sizes from 3xD up to 50xD. Superior point strength with low cutting force enables this drill series to excel in a wide range of applications and materials. Furthermore, the ADO is coated with OSG’s original EgiAs coating, which is constructed with extreme toughness, high wear and heat resistance characteristics to ensure stable and consistent tool life.

The ADO coolant-through carbide long drill series is one of OSG’s latest drilling innovations for ultra-efficiency in deep-hole applications.

The ADO drill series was recently revamped in October 2021 with a new R Gash geometry that enables super low cutting resistance and exceptional chip control. This feature allows the creation of compact chips that are tightly curled with no elongation for trouble-free chip evacuation even in deep-hole applications, making ultra-efficiency deep-hole 50xD drilling a reality. Furthermore, a new flute specification with smooth chip evacuation and high tool rigidity qualities has been applied to enable even greater performance than conventional tool design to better meet today’s demand of higher stability, efficiency, longer tool life, and greater precision machining.

Newly developed R Gash geometry. The newly developed R Gash geometry enables a cutting force reduction of 30 percent or more compared to the conventional design with exceptional chip shape stability.

The ADO drill series is demonstrating great results especially in deep-hole drilling applications in the German automotive as well as the die and mold sector. Furthermore, series suppliers with products in stainless steel like valve technology in industry sectors such as medicine, gas, and water are also impressed by the performance of the tool.

“OSG’s ADO deep-hole drills achieve approximately 10 to 30 percent more tool life versus other competitor drills,” said Oliver Fuchs, OSG GmbH Sales Representative for South Germany. “Even in difficult-to-machine materials such as high alloy steels, the ADO is able to exhibit more stable performance than the competition,” Fuchs adds.

Sven Clement, OSG GmbH Sales Representative for South Germany, further comments on the ADO series’ versatility and performance. “The ADO is a drill series that can handle almost all materials,” said Clement. “These drills are able to deliver good results even under suboptimal cutting conditions,” Clement adds.

Clement experienced many successes when cross selling the ADO drills with OSG taps, as the quality of drilled holes can affect the tool life of the tap used afterward. The ADO series carbide drills have proven their performance by creating flawless holes for perfect threading.

Alexander Kuhl, OSG GmbH Sales Representative for Central Germany, also comments that his customers appreciate the consistent quality of the ADO drills in deep-hole applications. “In addition to performance, the ADO series’ enormous lineup with various diameter and length options is definitely a plus,” Kuhl said.

“The ADO drills are high quality tools with exceptional CPU performance,” said Patrick Kinzlinger, OSG GmbH Sales Representative for South Germany. “Fast delivery capability and high-quality regrinding services at OSG’s Germany factory add to the total package,” said Kinzlinger.

OSG GmbH was founded in 2002 in Göppingen, Germany. Around 10 years later, the company revamped with a new production facility and administration building. In addition to being able to produce and customize products in Germany with fast delivery time, OSG GmbH also provides tool reconditioning services to its clients.

“The process reliability in both new and reground tools are superb,” said Daniel Richter, OSG GmbH Sales Representative for South Germany. “OSG’s customer support and local regrinding services are major advantages,” Richter comments.

In addition to being able to produce and customize products in Germany with fast delivery time, OSG GmbH also provides tool reconditioning services to its clients.

In December 2016, a new complex – the OSG Academy, was established adjacent to OSG GmbH’s existing facility. The OSG Academy allows for research and development of new products and features a technology center for demonstrations for the German and European market.
